“We are delighted that through Giving World Online we can make a use to our end of ranges, samples and split case goods that otherwise simply gather dust in our warehouse," Anthony Wagman, Chief Executive, Quest Personal Care Global Ltd.

"It's great to see the range of projects we have been able to help through Giving World Online. The response so far shows us how much difference we can make by taking time to publicise these goods to charities that can make the most of them," Gary Bates, Managing Director, Serif (Europe) Ltd.

"We are pleased that by donating this furniture to Giving World Online we are helping good causes, as well as preventing it from being sent to landfill sites. I would like to commend the work of the charity," Hilary Fryer, Charnwood Borough Council Cabinet Member for the Environment.

“This helps both businesses and communities and is an excellent and unique concept,” Martin Traynor, Chief Executive, Leicestershire Chamber of Commerce.

“Think of Giving World Online as a sort of dot.com dating agency; a marriage bureau that matches the needy with the givey to create relationships made in recycling heaven,” Leicester Mercury.

Training and rewards

Well, its always one thing after another in swift succession.

I have had a fantastic few weeks on the final few days of Common Purpose, the Matrix Leadership Programme.

I feel positive that the insights and opportunities gained will prove to be invaluable in leading Giving World Online to a global platform in the future.

Just to give you a feel for the diverse nature of the programme the group has faced challenges and been privy to knowledge from many arenas not least the Police Force, BT, Leicester City Council, The Towers, Djanlogy College, Nottingham, Nottingham University and Chilwell Army Barracks to name only a few. The varied aspects of leadership styles in different organizations are priceless tools especially in our ever changing and technological society.

In addition to our learning goals we had a stupendous time at the Leicestershire First, celebratory event held on the 3rdJuly at County Hall. The event was attended by most of the movers and shakers of Leicestershire society which is a credit to the Leicestershire First Trust and its Trustees headed by Maurice Thomspon.

Leicestershire First is a charitable trust launched by Maurice and Vivien Thompson, the aim of which is to promote leadership, excellence and citizenship in the community of Leicestershire.

As winners of the Leadership award we had the privilege to be interviewed by and had our photo taken with Martyn Lewis (watch this space, awaiting the photos).

You can view the videos of the winners of the Leicestershire First awards on the Leicestershire First website and  the Community Channel later this month.

Tomorrow we’ll be in London again for meetings around raising the profile of Giving World Online to a national platform.
