“We are delighted that through Giving World Online we can make a use to our end of ranges, samples and split case goods that otherwise simply gather dust in our warehouse," Anthony Wagman, Chief Executive, Quest Personal Care Global Ltd.

"It's great to see the range of projects we have been able to help through Giving World Online. The response so far shows us how much difference we can make by taking time to publicise these goods to charities that can make the most of them," Gary Bates, Managing Director, Serif (Europe) Ltd.

"We are pleased that by donating this furniture to Giving World Online we are helping good causes, as well as preventing it from being sent to landfill sites. I would like to commend the work of the charity," Hilary Fryer, Charnwood Borough Council Cabinet Member for the Environment.

“This helps both businesses and communities and is an excellent and unique concept,” Martin Traynor, Chief Executive, Leicestershire Chamber of Commerce.

“Think of Giving World Online as a sort of dot.com dating agency; a marriage bureau that matches the needy with the givey to create relationships made in recycling heaven,” Leicester Mercury.

Spring is in the Air

New year, new seasons, new horizons and a spring is in our step with new beginnings and constant change - transformation of GWO is an ongoing process.

Where do I begin – it’s been such a long time and so much to tell. I’ll start at the beginning. I’m sure you all know by now that Nicola officially started with us mid January. She is having a thoroughly good time and is a real asset, raising awareness of GWO in the press local and national (John Lewis) and with businesses.

In her own words (Vodafone Blog):

Working for Giving World Online is really fantastic although I am not too sure if there will be time for us to achieve all we want to before the two months are up! Whatever happens I will carry on as a volunteer for them as it is such a brilliant idea and there is so much to do to roll it out nationally.

Been busy identifying relevant websites and publications to target to get the message out there as well as making as many contacts as possible to help us engage businesses to redirect surplus goods to help charities.

Whilst quietly beavering away we have been very fortunate to secure 5 jobs through the Future Jobs Fund, so we are busy recruiting for some key positions within GWO. If you think you have the skills and are currently unemployed take a look at the jobs page.

With new staff in place we’ll be able to implement more awareness raising initiatives to businesses and charities alike preventing more good surplus from ending up in landfill and reaching people in need.

Furthermore we are on the look out for new office space as the expansion in staff cannot be accommodated in our existing offices. Another alternative would be to create our own new offices after all we have lots of floor space!!!

What else have we been doing…… well the students from DeMontfort University’s School of Business are putting together a couple of strategies for Income Generation for GWO.

Phase 3 of the website changes are already in process and hopefully very soon you’ll see a new look home page with a few other tweaks too.

No promises but I am going to seriously try and keep up with this blog ……
