Needy people in India, Armenia and Leicester have all benefited from the generosity of a company based in Leicestershire.

Retail design consultancy firm Checkland Kindleysides donated brand new shop and shelving units to Giving World Online. This stopped six tonnes of unwanted goods heading for a landfill site and saved the company storage costs.

The goods have been partly redistributed to The Peepul Centre in Leicester which gives the local community a chance to access sports, cultural and artistic activities.

Further afield the CK donation has helped a children’s hospital in Armenia which provides care to sick and disabled children from rural villages.

That global reach was furthered when Escombe Lambert Ltd and the Shipping Corporation of India kindly sponsored a consignment sent to a hospital giving free treatment to poor and disadvantaged villagers.

Giving World Online director, Rama Bhalla said: “This is a wonderful example of how excess in one area can be redistributed to help people globally. We are so grateful for the donation and for the sponsorship of the consignment which means our resources can be used to help even more needy people.”

Martyn Turner, Finance Director at Checkland Kindleysides, said:“CK are really pleased to have been able to help both local and international charities with our donation.  We had over a hundred pallets of bespoke retail fittings which we needed to find a good home for. The furniture was made by skilled craftsmen and we desperately didn’t want it to end up in landfill.”

The Peepul Centre’s Chief Executive, Rita Patel said: “Giving World Online was fantastic for us because the furniture and fittings supplied brought new life to areas of our centre.”

General Manager of Escombe Lambert, Rick Alphonso said: “Due to the very good work your organization is doing around the world, we at Escombe Lambert wanted to extend some assistance in sponsoring a container of shelving to India.”
