87-year-old Lavinia making scarves for Arrival Packs, with fabric from Giving World Online.
"Imagine having to flee your homeland because of war, terror or persecution. Imagine being a child or young person. Imagine not having your parents with you because they were killed before you left or were unable to leave. Imagine arriving in a strange country, seeking refuge. Imagine having absolutely nothing.
Separated children are among the most vulnerable members of our society. The Separated Child Foundation tries to support them in various ways and one of its projects is Arrival Packs — duffle bags crammed full of toiletries, clothing and other essentials.
We’re an entirely volunteer-led charity on a tight budget so imagine our delight when we discovered Giving World Online. We’ve received some tops and loads of warm socks, which have been a real gift in this cold weather.
We also used a bit of creativity and partnered with New London Synagogue on a day of social action—that involved members of all ages. One of the activities was making scarves from the woollen cloth that we received from Giving World Online.
All praise to Giving World for its sterling work and thanks to the companies that donate such valuable goods!" Angela Gluck, Trustee, The Separated Child Foundation
