news > 26/10/2009 - Therese visits GWO
GWO’s patron, Swedish popstar Therese Grankvist, took time out of her very hectic schedule – and up and coming tour - to see first hand our operations last week. Therese is very keen to be fully involved in Giving World’s work and be in a strong position to represent GWO effectively and with clarity of vision. In the future Therese will be the public face of GWO.
Time and time again we are amazed at how down to earth and caring Therese is.
Following presentations and a bite to eat, we wanted Therese to witness the impact that business surplus diverted into the community can have and so we made our way to the New Futures Project.
New Futures was established 18 years ago, offering a range of support services to sex workers. Women and young girls receive much needed support with literally every aspect of their lives from representation at court to a bed for the day. They are encouraged and supported to learn new skills helping them to make improved choices. Below are some snapshots of the visit.
