John Lewis donates through Giving World Online

Chaz Kotecha and Keith Lawson-West

John Lewis is the latest business to sign up to Giving World Online (GWO).

Chaz Kotecha, the marketing and community liaison co-ordinator for John Lewis Leicester, said: "We rely on charities approaching us with their requirements, so when we heard about GWO we registered with them.

"We came across a charity working with the homeless that was looking for cutlery and crockery so we got in touch and decided to make a donation."

The beneficiary was The Bridge - Homelessness to Hope, a charity set up 18 months ago to provide drop-in sessions for the homeless and vulnerable people living in Leicester. The charity offers soup with sandwiches twice a week, and a sit-down meal every month.

Keith Lawson-West, chairman of the charity, said: “We rely on volunteers to deliver our service and sadly we do not have any funds to buy in good quality items such as cutlery and crockery. GWO is a great resource for charities such as ours and this donation is fantastic for us, being able to serve our clients food on lovely crockery is more dignified and shows that people do care.”
