Case Studies
Quest Personal Care and Good Companions
Thanks to donations from Bury based Quest Personal Care Global Ltd, some of the most isolated and vulnerable people in our society have been able to access much needed toiletries through Giving World Online.
Good Companions is a self-help disabled group based in Bolton. Members of the group, aged between 20-72 years, are blind, deaf, suffering from MS, ME, wheelchair bound and adults with learning disabilities.. The group’s aims are to go out, into and use the community and to learn life-skills, confidence building and be as independent as they can, giving their families a rest from their caring role.
The Quest donations through Giving World Online enable Good Companions to put together a bag full of toiletries and a few other necessities for their families (carers) so they can have pamper days with other family members, who are often left out while they care.
Anthony Wagman, Chief Executive at Quest Personal Care Global Ltd said: “We are delighted that through Giving World Online we can make use of our end of ranges, samples and split case goods that otherwise simply gather dust in our warehouse. Good Companions can make good use of these products and we wish them well.”
Serif Software and Pecan
Nottingham based Serif (Europe) Ltd, the UK's leading independent design, publishing and creative software developer, registered with Giving World Online to donate their surplus stock.
Gary Bates, Managing Director at Serif said: "The software we donated through Giving World Online had been updated but we wanted the surplus stock to be passed on to people that could benefit. Serif is all about inspiring creativity and it is great to know that the various software packages are going to be used by a range of different projects providing support to people in need."
The Serif donation is worth over £5,000 and eight UK charities have received the free software which includes Desktop Publishing Suite 2008, Desktop Home Creativity Suite 2008, Internet Design Suite 2008 and Student Creativity Suite 2008.
One such charity is Pecan. Based in London the charity helps transform the lives of disadvantaged young people through various training and motivational projects.
Ellen Fung, Youth Programme Manager at Pecan said: "This is great news for us, the Serif Student Creativity Suite will be used to help our under 18’s gain new skills and prepare for employment. Training and educational materials are a vital element in delivering our services. It is fantastic that we have been able to access this free software from Serif."
Gary added: "It is great to see the range of projects we have been able to help through the Giving World Online website. The response so far shows us how much difference we can make by taking time to publicise these goods."
