Training and Learning

The last few days have had a strong training focus with Professor Sue Thomas of De Montfort University and Amplified Leicester coming in to talk to us about the ever  rapidly developing field of new media and ways to effectively engage with it.

Voluntary Action Leicester has been giving our staff insights into the structure of the voluntary sector, training for our supervising staff and fundraising.

Stuart Jones, businessman and Consultant delivered a session on the Corporate Sector, how GWO should engage with businesses and help to develop our commercial awareness.

Meanwhile Business Link are running a number of courses  that staff will be attending, so this month’s focus is really all about learning and training.

We are really keen to provide a range of training opportunities as part of our commitment to our FJF staff to help them develop skills and knowledge while they are working with us at GWO.

Our Administrative Team Supervisor Amit has a Bsc in Psychology and a Msc in Management Psychology but even with all those qualifications he is still getting a lot out of the training.

He said: “It's great accessing all this training at GWO. This is particularly helpful in developing my softer skills which will aid my future career in management.”
