news > 24/07/2012 - Parkwood Leisure furniture donation provides a helping hand to charity head office

A donation of office furniture has enabled Mentor Link to furnish their new Head Office in Stourport-on-Severn, Worcestershire.

Mentor Link provides volunteer mentors for children and young people who may be facing difficulties.  Demand for their service has recently meant a move to larger premises, and with it, a need for more office furniture.

A spokesperson for the charity said "We currently have 13 staff and 200 volunteers and mentors helping around 250-300 children each week in schools in the area.  We needed larger premises to accommodate our staff but office furniture is very expensive."

Luckily, help was at hand. The office furniture was donated by Parkwood Leisure, one of the leading leisure management companies in the UK, operating leisure facilities including 50m International Swimming Pools, state of the art Fitness Gyms, theatres, conference venues and cultural community centres on behalf of 27 Local Authorities across the UK. Andrew Wadland, their Commercial Director said "Parkwood Leisure manage over 80 facilities on behalf of Local Authorities and the communities they serve. We have a strong commitment to the environment being the first leisure company to achieve ISO14001. Our leisure centres promote health and fitness for all ages and when we were introduced to Mentor Link by Giving World Online, we saw immediate synergies with their great work. It is so good to see our surplus office furniture given a new lease of life. The donation process was easy, and I recommend Giving World Online to all businesses, regardless of sector."

Mentor Link commented "Luckily we received an email from Giving World Online just at the right time and we were able to secure the items we needed.  We’d like to say a big thank you to the Giving World Online team and to Parkwood Leisure for donating these items, helping us to deliver our service more efficiently."
