news > 27/03/2014 - One Family Beats the Debt Trap With the Help of Giving World

Family helped

We are seeing debt escalate in the UK. It's been widely reported that families are using pay day loan companies and credit cards to buy essentials like food and toiletries.

Meanwhile tonnes of new goods end up in landfill every year. Goods like clothes, toiletries and furniture. Items our beneficiaries desperately need to help their income go further.

One of our beneficiaries was in debt. A normal working family who struggled to make ends meet at the end of each month.

This is what they had to say:

"I had got myself into debt and every day was a constant worry trying to make ends meet even though my partner Stu and I work! I suffered from depression and anxiety and cut myself off socially as I didn't want to be seen as the 'poor one'. I received a huge box of household items with practical things like washing powder, bedding and toys and cleaning products, which would help save money in the long run. I was overwhelmed when I saw how much there was and almost cried! Since getting this help things have become much more positive."

Every day Giving World effects these small but significant changes across the UK.

Please help us to keep delivering a circle of value to our communities by reusing goods that would ordinarily end up in landfill.
