news > 12/12/2016 - Santa's grotto comes to Giving World

This year Giving World are again sending over 10,000 toys, cuddly toys, books and stocking fillers to children's charities up and down the country.

There will be thousands of Christmas gifts packed and given to every single child represented by Giving World's partner charities across the UK. These children live in very real poverty and deprivation in the UK and would not receive anything from Santa otherwise.

It's hard to think that in the UK there are children going without on Christmas day, and who can't understand why Santa has forgotten them.

However, according to Shelter, there are 103,000 children who will be 'homeless' on Christmas day in the UK this year, staying instead in temporary accommodation. They are uprooted and moved away from their friends, schools and support networks with no idea when, or even if, they will be able to return to what is familiar.

For these children, wondering how Santa is going to find them on Christmas Eve to deliver to their hopes and dreams on Christmas morning is the least of their worries.

To ensure that no child goes without this Christmas, a few of our regular suppliers Including Halilit, Baby Brands Direct, Bladez Toyz, Childs Play International Ltd, POS Logistics, Unilever, Babe-equip UK Ltd, Creative Kingdom Books Ltd, Aurora World Ltd, the Gift Wholesaler (EH Caswell) and Discovery Communications, have generously donated toys, cuddly toys, puzzles, books and craft materials to ensure every child has something to open on Christmas day.

Derby City Mission, for example, gives each of the children in their area 2 wrapped parcels, plus a cuddly toy for the under-8s, a book, sweets and stocking fillers.

Such a simple thing, however the pure joy from the recipients is immeasurable. Thanks to our generous businesses that have donated their surplus stock to make this happen, thousands of children will not be forgotten by Santa this year.

Have a very merry festive time from all of us at Giving World.
